Day 84: A River

300 Days of Writing

Day 84 A River:

Well I went down to the river

and saw the Almighty up ahead

She spoke and said, “My son,

you have to go back and pray.

Pray for your salvation.

Pray for you and me.”

“But I won’t go back anymore!”

I won’t go back to suffer.

“But I will pray for you.

Pray that the people will believe.”

Learn to believe and fear you.

Mama. Mama? What’s happened?

What has happened to me?

I have lost my family

and I’ve lost my will to believe

Mama. Mama? Where are you?

Off in a foreign land.

It used to be my country.

Now I can’t be found.

Not anymore.

It’s time to surrender to fate

and time to give up the ghost.

But you were always the most

important thing to me.

It’s time to surrender to fate

and time to give up the ghost.

And if this is how it’s supposed

to be I’ll leave in peace.

I went down to the river

and I saw you standing there.
