EDITING SERVICES

Do you have a novel or short story that requires honest, quality, and intensive feedback? Have you edited your manuscript to the best of your ability, but still feel the need for external input? Then now might be the right time for you to consider developmental editing.

Editing Services: Image

The edit is provided in two parts: in-line commentary and a 1-2 page summary following the extract.

The in-line commentary is provided to give an idea of what is working well, what is eliciting strong emotions, and how the story is impacting a reader’s experience. It is also a chance for you to see questions, observations, and areas for improvement.

The summary will give an overarching view on the plot and structure of the piece, with areas that could be tightened, clarified or strengthened. Pacing will be addressed through the assessment of story elements. Areas that need to meet these plot points will be examined in detail.

COST

The edit costs .05¢ per word and there is a minimum word count of 10,000 words per submission.

Short stories and flash fiction may be submitted up to 7,500 words for a reduced rate of .03¢ per word. There is no minimum word count for this category.

An additional Zoom Q+A is available for purchase to further discuss edits, hook, and plot. Please express your interest in your submission for further details and pricing.

WHEN

I encourage you to seek as many beta readers, friends, and free resources as you can before seeking any paid services. If you find you’ve edited your piece to the best of your ability and have expended all the avenues at your disposal but still require additional feedback, then this is the right time for you. Whether you are seeking traditional publishing or submitting to a literary magazine, I want to help your story be as polished as possible.
