EDITING SERVICES

EDITING SERVICES

The edit is provided in two parts: in-line commentary and an edit letter with the extract.

The in-line commentary is provided to give an idea of what is working well, what is eliciting strong emotions, and how the story is impacting a reader’s experience. It is also a chance for you to see questions, observations, and potential areas for improvement.

The edit letter will summarize the piece's strengths and areas for improvement.

WHEN TO INVEST

I encourage you to seek as many beta readers, friends, and free resources as you can before seeking any paid services. If you find you’ve edited your piece to the best of your ability and have expended all the avenues at your disposal but still require additional feedback, then this is the right time for you. Whether you are seeking traditional publishing or submitting to a literary magazine, I want to help your story be as polished as possible.

TESTIMONIALS

"Haley sees both the small details and the big picture, so she offers advice that not only addresses the niggly bits, but helps give the whole work better clarity. Incredibly valuable."

Debbie Enever, Midowed

Haley always has insightful and intelligent comments. She is very professional but friendly. Her edits consider plot and story level,  as well as technical edits such as word and grammar, making her feedback well-rounded. She is an essential editor in my writing process and I would not be where I am today without her advice.

E F McAdam, PhD Creative Writing University of Liverpool

"Haley makes an effort to understand the story and cuts deeper than only addressing grammar and structure. Her feedback is thorough, encouraging and reliable, and never fails to make me think of things I had not previously considered."

Louise Berger, PhD Creative Writing Lancaster University
