Sweet tooth

November 4 — Sweet tooth

The deer came back that night, completely devastating the corn field. The decapitated plants hung low in the early morning dawn. Shame faced and drooping to the ground, it was easy to see where the kernels had been gnawed off. The sweet tooth of the white tail was insatiable, and the corn could do nothing to stop it.

The deer grew fat that fall, and the hunter came swift and ready. A shot cut through the morning mist.

The deer fell, the taste of corn still on its lips. After their death, their crown of antlers was hung on a wall above a dinner plate, where a child feasted on corn on the cob, slathered in butter.
