Plant
It started with a crack.
Rain trickled down the split concrete. There, ravenous roots drank greedily until they expanded.
They grew and grew, the cement steadily giving way. The pressure was astounding. The crack widened, and the plant pushed its way towards the sun.
Cresting the top, the wind tickled the tops of their leaves. They flourished now and the little plant blossomed. Green leaves unfurled. The plant tilted towards the sun, gently following its daily path from east to west.
The buds were tender and sweet. There was a floral scent on the air around them.
The bunnies sniffed the plant out, and swiftly gnawed the tops off. The insatiable creatures chewed down the stocks until there was nothing left of the plant save for the roots beneath the cement.
