Electricity
I drifted down the copper wire without urgency. It was easy movement really, to slip down this path to find my station. But then it wasn’t really about finding the right spot, not for me anyway.
The journey was more important than the destination.
In the flow of the current, my mind began to wander. Well, if you could call it a mind. You might just consider it a mess of charges, an accumulation of static. That was before, but now you realized the full weight of my power.
You realized I might as well have a mind of my own.
I was no longer content with just charging your phone or powering your laptop. That summer night, the one with the intense storms, was the night I decided to make my mark. I wanted our house to be as alight as Manderley, glowing bright against the dark pines.
With that first thought, I allowed myself to slip out of place.
Fizz. Pop. Hiss.
The spark was a light not even I could control.
And we went up in flames together.
